Finding the best holiday displays in Charlotte can be a challenge with so many options spread across the city and surrounding suburbs. Whether you’re looking for the nostalgic charm of a neighborhood or the high-production spectacles at the city's major landmarks, the Queen City offers a diverse range of ways to celebrate the season. To help you plan your route, we’ve curated a guide to the must-see displays for 2025, from hidden neighborhood gems to professional displays.

Neighborhood Gems

There is something uniquely charming about a community that goes all-in on the holidays. These neighborhoods offer everything from synchronized radio music to overhead light displays.

Hillside Ave. Holiday Hunger Drive | Myers Park

Famous for the iconic "light balls" hanging high in the oak trees. While it's free to drive through, visitors are encouraged to bring a donation for the Loaves & Fishes/Friendship Trays food bank.

Sherwood Forest Drive | SouthPark

A long-standing Charlotte tradition. Expect classic, elegant displays and several homes with intricate, synchronized light shows.

Ardrey Neighborhood | South Charlotte

Known for its beautiful Charleston-style homes, this neighborhood turns into a storybook scene with coordinated lights and festive porch displays.

Lights On Blue Bonnet Lane | Stallings

A local favorite with thousands of lights, playful holiday characters, and a musical soundtrack that creates a show you won’t want to miss.

Christmas On The Farm | Indian Trail

For a more rustic feel, head to Indian Trail to see farmhouses and barns illuminated with classic holiday warmth.

Professional Displays

If you’re looking for the "wow" factor, these immersive experiences offer millions of lights, festive food, and even carnival rides.

Drive the 4-mile course at the Charlotte Motor Speedway! This year features over 5 million lights and a Christmas Village in the infield with a 16,000-square-foot ice rink.

McAdenville “Christmas Town USA” | Lights on through Dec. 26

Just a short drive west to McAdenville, this entire town transforms into a winter wonderland. It’s a Charlotte rite of passage to drive or walk through these historic streets.

Now in its 4th year, this walking trail features over a million lights, oversized snow globes, and a new Winter Wonderland Carnival with a Ferris wheel.

Carowinds Winterfest | Open through January 3, 2026

The park is transformed into a holiday festival with one of the area's largest Christmas trees, live holiday shows, and select rides open for the season.

Christmas At Billy Graham Library | Open through December 23, 2025

A beautiful, faith-centered celebration featuring a live nativity, horse-drawn carriage rides, and stunning grounds illuminated with white lights.

Kannapolis Celebration Of Lights | Open through December 30, 2025

Take a ride on the Winterland Express train or the carousel and see over 250,000 lights in Village Park.

Pro-Tips for Your Light Tour
  1. Go Mid-Week: To avoid the heaviest traffic (especially in McAdenville and at the Speedway), try to visit on a Monday or Tuesday night.
  2. Check the Radio: Many neighborhood displays have signs telling you which FM station to tune into, so you can hear the music synced to the lights.
  3. Buy Tickets Early: For professional displays like Daniel Stowe and Ballantyne's Backyard, weekend slots sell out fast!

Whether you prefer a quiet drive through South Charlotte or a full evening at a holiday festival, the 2025 season has plenty to offer. Use this list to map out your route and make the most of the displays across the Queen City.
